It's time to say goodbye to the stream

GidaFolk will no longer be streaming music over the internet due to time constraints in my life and the changing levels of interest over the years.
I'd like to thank the many listeners spread out over the long time that the station has been active, especially to the listeners and musicians that submitted their own music to be put into rotation here. GidaFolk played music from all artists up until several years ago when charges were put on webcasters like this station to play licensed material. While paying for this material is not a bad idea, the rates for webcasters were much higher than any other entity in the music industry. This led me to change the format to play only authorized material which greatly changed what GidaFolk planned to be. While the new format and interaction with musicians was exciting, the station would never live up to what it once was, as far as listener numbers.
I hope to somehow get back into all of this again one day but for now it's goodbye. Thanks to all and hope to see you again.

I have many submissions which I have not gone through - sorry for delays.
The calicoDrifters sent in a new album and is now in rotation. The link to their web site can be found in the Artist Correspondence section.

The server was rebuilt with a new hard drive and operating system and is not yet 100% back up yet.
Please stay tuned...
EDIT (06-Apr-2008): The server is back to normal with many new parts and is once again steady. Sorry for any downtime.

New material has been added to the rotation. You can view submissions by selecting the Artist Correspondence button on the front page.
Also, I have a large list of submissions still sitting in my mail box - I will go through those as I have availability.

Artists out there that want their stuff played right here on GidaFolk can upload songs to: ftp://gida.tzo.net - username "gidafolk", password "gidafolk" . Please send an email to go along with your upload so I can be sure to hear your song. Also, creating folders in the FTP is prohibited to help keep out hackers, so please just copy files into the folder by themselves - not inside of your own folder. Thanks!
