Welcome to the UltraID3Lib Support Message Board

Welcome to the support message board for UltraID3Lib. UltraID3Lib is .NET library for reading and writing ID3 tags in MP3 files. It also reads MPEG data. The main page for UltraID3Lib is www.UltraID3Lib.com.

Please post any questions or comments here and I'll attempt to answer them as soon as I can. (There have even been confirmed cases of other users answering questions. Cool.)

Here are some guidelines for submitting a question...

1) Give the version of UltraID3Lib you are using.

2) If there is an exception involved in your question, give as much detail about it as you can.

3) If you're having problems with a particular MP3 file, the debugging will be much easier if I can just get a copy of the track. The site www.rapidshare.com is free and has a very easy interface to upload a single file.

If you'd like to help out, here are some things you can do...

1) If you read an MP3 file with an UltraID3v2UnrecognizedFrameException, please note the FrameID. There are a few very common non-standard frames that I run across on a regular basis and I would very much like to identify the source of these errant frames. So, if you discover one of these non-standard frames and, more importantly, can identify the ripper or tag editor which created this frame, please let me know. BTW, the most common non-standard frame has a Frame ID of “NCON”. I have no idea what this Frame holds, how to decode it, or what application created it.

2) If you have any knowledge of implementing the encryption or zlib compression methods as specified in the ID3 standard using managed code, please let me know. I’ve found a zlib compression COM component, but I’d much rather stick to UltraID3Lib being a purely managed code library. (I couldn’t get the COM component to properly decompress tag text anyway.)

3) As always, if you find any errors or bugs in UltraID3Lib, let me know. While I have to work on the library between work and other non-virtual activities, I’m still very much committed to keeping UltraID3Lib up-to-date and bug-free.

4) Even if you see a design flaw in UltraID3Lib, let me know. I've tried to stictly adhere to OO principles in the design of UltraID3Lib, but if you have a suggestion for an improvement, let me know.

Thank you,

- Mitchell S. Honnert
